Working to End Gun Violence

This page highlights some of Saddam’s priorities on this issue and is not a full list of his positions. Have a question or idea we haven’t covered? Get in touch with us HERE.

Senator Salim is a leading voice in the fight to keep Virginia families safe from gun violence. In the Senate, he passed legislation banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. He supported comprehensive reforms including waiting periods for firearm purchases, prohibiting domestic abusers from owning guns, and banning the presence of firearms in bars. He also led efforts to mandate safe firearm storage, ban ghost guns, and hold the gun industry accountable.

We already know what works: the 1994 federal assault weapons ban. He will stand with the American people in calling for the reinstatement and strengthening of that law.

Senator Salim believes ending gun violence is not just about policy, it’s about protecting our communities, our schools, and our right to live without fear. He will continue working to build a Virginia where families can feel safe in their homes, neighborhoods, and public spaces, because every Virginian deserves freedom from gun violence.
